Questions Carriers Ask

Clear answers on truck age, money down, combined tractor-and-trailer files, lease structures, and credit paths before you send the equipment package.

Does Mack's mDRIVE transmission affect financing or resale value?

The mDRIVE is a well-regarded automated manual with strong Mack dealer support. It doesn't negatively affect financing. On residual value, automated transmissions have become broadly accepted in the used market, and the mDRIVE specifically has a reputation for reliability in Mack applications.

Can I finance an Anthem with the Mack MP8HE (high efficiency) package?

Yes. Engine package variations don't create separate loan categories. The truck is financed as a whole unit based on its total market value. The MP8HE option, like other factory upgrades, factors into the appraisal and overall value of the truck.

I'm upgrading from an older Mack model. Can I trade in my existing truck?

Trade-in equity can be applied toward the Anthem purchase as a down payment. We need the VIN and current payoff or free-and-clear status on your trade. Positive equity reduces the new loan amount and improves the overall deal terms.

Is a 2018 Anthem with 700,000 miles financeable?

Yes, with conditions. High-mileage Anthems are evaluated on condition and service history. A 2018 with 700,000 miles that has documented maintenance, fresh tires, and no deferred mechanical items is a different underwriting conversation than one that's been run without records. Come in with what documentation you have.

Can I finance multiple Anthems at once under a fleet deal?

Yes. Multi-unit deals are structured under a combined credit review with separate collateral on each unit. Fleet deals often move faster than individual deals because we do one approval for the whole package rather than processing each truck separately.

Mack came back hard with the Anthem in 2018. After years of running the Pinnacle as their primary long-haul platform, Mack redesigned the Anthem from the ground up with a new aerodynamic cab, a restyled interior, and a powertrain combination built specifically around fuel efficiency for high-mileage OTR operators. Fleets that had been loyal to Mack for decades were the first buyers, and a growing number of owner-operators followed. If you're adding an Anthem to your authority or building a Mack-spec'd fleet, we finance them new and used, with document-ready approvals and no bank runaround.

Mack loyalists run Mack. That's a real thing in trucking. If you've been behind a Mack your whole career and you know how to spec and maintain one, the Anthem is a natural continuation. Financing it shouldn't be the complicated part. We work with Equipment Options across all credit tiers and scale from single-truck owner-operators to multi-unit fleet deals.

The Anthem replaced the older Pinnacle on the long-haul lineup and brought with it a completely new cab design. The most notable changes were aerodynamic: hood slope, roof fairing integration, side extenders, and chassis skirting all redesigned to reduce drag coefficients compared to the Pinnacle. Mack stated improvement targets in the 10% fuel economy range over the predecessor model, which on 120,000 miles per year translates to a real operating cost difference.

Under the hood, the Anthem runs Mack's MP8 engine, available at output ratings from 415 to 505 horsepower with peak torque up to 1,860 lb-ft. The MP8 is Mack's own powertrain, not a sourced engine, which gives Mack dealers a direct service relationship and deep parts availability. The mDRIVE automated manual transmission is the standard pairing on current Anthem builds, though Eaton manual options have been available for operators who prefer them.

The Anthem's cab interior was also substantially upgraded from the Pinnacle era. The instrument cluster went digital, storage was redesigned, and the sleeper configurations, ranging from the 48-inch mid-roof to the 70-inch stand-up sleeper, gave operators meaningful options based on their actual running needs. The stand-up sleeper positions the Anthem to compete directly with the Volvo 760 and Kenworth T680 for driver-comfort-minded fleet operators.

For operators running Financing Options where fuel efficiency directly determines profitability, the Anthem's aerodynamic upgrade over previous Mack generations is the primary case for the truck. Mack loyalists already knew what they were getting on the powertrain side. The aero was the new variable.

New Mack Anthems list running about $150k to $185k depending on spec and configuration. Used Anthems, predominantly 2018 through 2022 model years in the current market, price between $80,000 and $130,000 depending on miles and condition. The Anthem is relatively new enough that used units are almost all in good condition with serviceable drivetrain life remaining.

Both new and used Anthems finance the same way: we look at the truck's market value, the loan-to-value ratio, and the borrower's credit and revenue profile. New units from dealers have straightforward appraisals. Used units may require additional condition documentation if mileage is very high or service history is incomplete.

The Anthem's MP8 engine has built a solid service record over the production run to date. Deep MP8 knowledge exists at Mack dealers across the country and at many independent shops that handle Mack iron regularly. That parts and labor accessibility is a meaningful collateral consideration: a truck that can be serviced anywhere is a truck that lenders can assign a cleaner value to.

If you're financing a used Anthem and want to explore whether Get Fleet Terms or a semi truck refinance is the better structure for your situation, we can run both scenarios. Some buyers purchase used and refinance quickly after demonstrating payment history; others start with a clean financing structure from day one.

Start to finish, from application to closing package, most Anthem purchases close within one to two weeks. The application and bank statement review takes 24 to 48 business hours for a decision. Document signing and funding follow once approval is confirmed and the deal terms are agreed on.

For deals under $400,000, we operate on application-only terms. No tax returns, no multi-year financial statements. Owner-operators and small fleet operators who've been grinding the lanes for years shouldn't have to produce a CPA statement to buy a truck. The application and three months of bank statements give us what we need.

Buyers with challenged credit should plan for a larger down payment but should still apply. The Anthem's collateral value is solid, which helps offset credit risk in the underwriting. A 20% down payment on a well-priced used Anthem can get deals done that wouldn't pass at lower advance rates. If you're in that credit tier and have the down payment available, the deal is worth pursuing. Operators who want to compare the Anthem against older Mack iron can also review our page on Mack Pinnacle financing to see how the platforms differ in terms and pricing.
